Regulation
Requirements and registration procedure
The Gobierno de Canarias regulates holiday apartments (viviendas vacacionales) and requires that they appear in the General Tourist Register of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (Registro General Turístico de la Comunidad autónoma de Canarias), and that the identification number of the Register is shown in the advertisement for the accommodation. To register your tourist accommodation, you must present an affidavit to the corresponding Cabildo Insular and ensure that the property complies with a series of requirements:
– holiday rental properties must be rented as a whole unit.
– properties which are not located in toursit areas, tourist property developments or in a mixed-use residential and tourist estate may also be subject to the decree.
– tourist lets must display an sign somewhere visible that identifies them as vacation properties with the registration number, as long as this is not expressly forbidden by the statutes of the community of homeowners.
For more information, you can go to the Viceconsejería de Turismo.
